Work this Week
 
Construction teams will be working on the following projects:
 
  • Clearing the area on the south-side of Discovery Street/Craven Road/Bent Avenue: Construction crews will continue to clear and excavate in the area.Traffic will still be able to flow through the area. To protect oncoming traffic, the dedicated right-hand turn ramp at Discovery Street/Craven Road will be closed. Drivers will still be able to make a right-hand turn at the three-way stop sign at Bent Avenue, Discovery Street and Craven Road. The City will change the striping at intersection to make the turn easier for drivers to navigate.
 
  • Preparation/installation of safety and environmental protection fencing: The construction team will begin the installation of fencing throughout the project area for the purpose of safety and protection of Creek habitat.
 
Upcoming Work
 
In the following weeks, the construction team is expected to begin:
 
  • Prepping Discovery Street for future widening
  • Closing Bent Avenue for road improvements and bridge construction
 
What to Expect
 
 
Construction hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In some areas of the Creek Project, construction hours may begin earlier than stated.
 
In the construction zone, please be mindful of the reduced speed limits, particularly with rain in the forecast. Drivers must adhere to the 25 mph speed limit for the safety of construction crews and others. Please remember to Honk Less and Wave More to keep San Marcos roads safe and friendly.
 
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, construction crews are taking all recommended precautions to stay healthy and safe by following the guidance from public health officials, practicing social distancing and frequent hand washing on the construction site.
