Hand in Hand with the North County Interfaith Shelter Network Print

god_lifts_up_the_lowly.jpgHOMELESS SHELTER   St. Marks, in cooperation with the North County Interfaith Shelter Network, will assist the SM United Methodist Church, 800 W. Mission Road, San Marcos, in hosting a rotational shelter. Patrick and Mary Quigley send their personal thanks to so many wonderful and generous volunteers.

Hello to all St.Mark's cheerful angels.
I've received several inquiries regarding the shelter and St. Mark's participation this winter season.  This is simply an update and to let you know we haven't forgotten you and your eagerness to, as Jesus said, "Feed my sheep."
St. Marks will be responsible for the 2nd week of the shelter:  March 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23.  During those dates, we will provide all meals and overnight hosts.
We also promised to supply two trucks to pickup cots and guest belongings Mar 10th from the previous church.
And to help cleanup the shelter Mar 24th.  United Methodist is located at 800 W. Mission Road, San Marcos.
There is a minor glitch this year.  United Methodist does not want a bunch of people staying for supper each night. They believe the guests feel overwhelmed and exploited when the hosts outnumber the guests.
Since this is at their church, I feel it only right we adhere to their wishes.  I hope this doesn't discourage you from supplying those wonderful meals.
We have a good supply of clean sheets, blankets and toiletries in storage, so we won't be asking for them this time.
However, we will need MONEY to purchase breakfast & lunch items, paper plates (they don't have a dishwasher), napkins, plastic silverware, coffee, cups, etc. (Positive point: cleanup will be much quicker and easier.) Please make checks payable to St. Marks, For: "Shelter Fund".  Thank you.
God bless us everyone!
